Brazilian pay-TV operator Globosat, part of the Globo Group, has launched a 4K/Ultra-HDTV ‘App’ for consumers with suitable Samsung smart-TVs. The connection is good for Samsung’s 2015 (and more recent) models and can access bandwidth of 30 Mb/s or higher.

Globosat says it will supply similar connectivity for 4K for other UHD displays in the coming months.

Globo is a multichannel cable and satellite TV operator and claims 45 million viewers to its channels in some 15 million homes.  It also claims market leadership in Brazil as the largest pay-TV operator in Latin America.

The broadcaster says that viewers will be able to download 4K programming as well as material from its GNT, SporTV, Viva, +Globosat, Telecine and Off channels.
