Badass Studios powers Extreme H
November 4, 2025
As the world’s first hydrogen motorsport series made history in Qiddiya City, Badass Studios helped bring the FIA Extreme H World Cup to life through cutting-edge visual storytelling and immersive technology.
Commissioned to support the pioneering hydrogen-powered racing championship, Badass Studios delivered a suite of broadcast and digital assets designed to educate and engage global audiences about this new era of racing.
Ali Russell, Managing Director of Extreme H, commented: “Our ambition with Extreme H is to redefine how fans experience motorsport, to make it more immersive, engaging, and connected to the innovation happening behind the scenes. The work delivered by Badass Studios helps us do exactly that. By creating interactive and visually rich content, from virtual world explainers to AR-powered race experiences, Badass Studios helped us bring a new dimension to our storytelling and created a perfect example of how technology and creativity can come together to make sustainable innovation truly exciting.”
Badass Studios created a detailed and precise digital twin of the Qiddiya City circuit, the Extreme H car, and event environment using the BadassXR platform and Unreal Engine.
The collaboration produced four bespoke Explainer Videos to bring to life the new race car and sporting formats for viewers, including a Multi-Car Race Explainer, Time Trial Explainer, Head-to-Head Explainer and Pioneer 25 Car Explainer.
Each video visualised the championship’s unique racing formats, hydrogen-powered car technology, and the visually stunning Qiddiya City race circuit. Using advanced rendered animation, racing line graphics, and integrated sponsor branding, the content was created in multiple formats for both broadcast and social media usage.
To enhance the live fan experience, Badass Studios also developed a high-fidelity XR Simulator Module of the FIA Extreme H World Cup in Qiddiya City. The simulator was deployed at the venue, allowing guests to experience hydrogen racing in an authentic and interactive way, both solo and in multiplayer mode.
A standout engagement moment came when Team STARD’s Patrick O’Donovan and Amanda Sorensen went head-to-head on the simulator in front of students as part of the E360 PIF Driving Force programme, which aims to inspire young people to explore careers in science, technology, and sustainable motorsport.
Rosemary Lokhorst, CEO of Badass Studios, said: “We are an XR studio that connects brands with the new generation by building exciting, real-time immersive experiences centred around the things they love; gaming, esports, and sports. Our collaboration with Extreme H perfectly embodies that mission. By combining creative storytelling with real-time technology, we’ve helped deliver an engaging, interactive experience that bought the world’s first hydrogen racing to life for its audiences in a fittingly innovative fashion.”
Through its creative and technical expertise, Badass Studios helped Extreme H deliver a powerful visual narrative around sustainability, innovation, and the future of motorsport, one that captivated fans and set new standards for engagement in the sport’s transition to hydrogen power.
