The Queen’s Gambit watched by 62m Netflix homes

Netflix, which is increasingly becoming less coy with sharing its viewing figures – at least when it has something to boast about – has declared its The Queen’s Gambit series as being a record-setting title.
In a tweet, the streamer revealed: “A record-setting 62 million households chose to watch The Queen’s Gambit in its first 28 days, making it Netflix’s biggest scripted limited series to date.”
The seven episode series is based on a novel of the same name written by Walter Tevis, first published in 1983. It tells the fictional tale of an orphan chess prodigy, Beth Harmon (played by Anya Taylor-Joy in the series), during her quest to become the world’s greatest chess player while struggling with drug and alcohol dependency.
