YouTube restores wrongly deleted robot battles
August 22, 2019
YouTube is in the process of remedying a site error after its algorithm falsely identified personal videos of robot battles – similar to the likes of those seen in BBC show Robot Wars – as ‘animal cruelty’ and ‘cock fighting’.
Channels posting robot combat videos saw their content removed and received a notice from YouTube informing them that the videos were in breach of its community guidelines.
A YouTube spokesman confirmed the mistake, commenting: “With the massive volume of videos on our site, sometimes we make the wrong call.”
