According to Dataxis, the growth for FTTx (FTTH/B) is coming mostly from Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries, particularly from Russia. In 2016, Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) countries accounted for 69 per cent of the FTTx (FTTB/H) representing 37 million subscribers.

Furthermore, Dataxis estimates that Russia accounts for almost 68 per cent of FTTx subscribers in CEE countries amounting to 24 million subscribers in 2016. Incumbent Russian operators, Rostelecom, Beeline, MTS etc. have started investing in the technology since 2010 and consider FTTx (FTTB/H) as the technology of future with a strong competitive advantage in speed and traffic per household. At the end of the 1st quarter of 2017, 78 per cent of the broadband connections in Russia were FTTx (FTTB/H).
