Lynk Global promises service in 2027

Lynk Global is in the process of an agreed merging with Omnispace although the pair are still awaiting US government approval for the deal. Once that is achieved, satellite giant SES will invest further sums into the combined business.
SES first confirmed its stake in Lynk in March 2025. The merger plan was announced in October 2025. Lynk (and Omnispace) want to attack the Direct-to-Consumer market and user’s unmodified smartphones.
Lynk CEO Ramu Potorazu (a former executive with Intelsat and on the Board of SES) confirmed at last month’s Washington Satellite 2026 show that Lynk would start a service in mid-2027. It currently has just six satellites in orbit. He added that Lynk would launch two large phases of satellites each of 320 craft (making 640 in total) although admitted that launch capacity remained a challenge and was a bottleneck.
Omnispace has its own mobile satellite service spectrum, with 60 MHz of globally harmonised S-band.
