PS4 set to become best-selling console ever
February 4, 2020
Sony sold 6.1 million PlayStation 4 consoles in Q4 2019, and whilst that number is down from the 8.1 million sold in the same period last year, it’s still impressive considering the PlayStation 5 has already been announced for Xmas 2020.
The lifetime total of PlayStation 4 sales now stands at 108.9 million consoles (compared to an estimated 45 million for the Xbox One and 52.48 million for the Nintendo Switch – which launched three years than its generational rivals).
The PlayStation 2 is currently the best-selling console of all time, shifting 155 million units. With a PlayStation 4 price-drop very likely before PlayStation 5 consoles hit the shelves, the system seems well on course to take that crown from its earlier incarnation.
