Italian free-to-air satellite platform, tivùsat, reported 452,000 new smart card activations in 2022. Of this figure, 312,000 (69 per cent) are users equipped with decoders, while 140,000 (31 per cent) opted for a Cam installed in a Smart TV.
Five regions of Italy were responsible for more than 220,000 activated smart cards, namely Lazio (49,560), Lombardy (47,510), Sicily (44,750), Piedmont (41,810), and Emilia Romagna (40,320).
A decisive factor for the growth was the World Cup tournament held at the end of 2022, which tivùsat was able to broadcast in 4K thanks to Rai’s production effort. tivùsat currently offers 130 TV channels, including more than 70 in HD and seven in 4K.
