Nigeria’s Communications Commission says the overall sum to be invested into the nation’s broadband infrastructure will top Naira 265 billion (about €65.7 billion).
The Commission will put N65 billion into 6 private companies under public/private partnership deals, said Umar Danbatta, the CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission.
The aim is to boost connectivity for the country’s 200 million citizens in order to improve commerce and productivity.
The Commission’s plan is to lay 30,000 kms of fibre over 774 local government regions across the Federation, which would take the overall total of installed fibre to some 71,000 kms by 2024.
