Spain: MásMóvil, Orange mull global network alliance

MásMóvil, the fourth largest telco operator in Spain, is reportedly negotiating a global 5G and FTTH network alliance with Orange. A deal would include sharing mobile networks in big cities, a discount in roaming and the acquisition of fibre optic networks.
With this agreement, MásMóvil is seeking to reduce its 5G costs by sharing networks and have more FTTH networks to avoid paying for access. If no agreement is reached MásMóvil could explore a deal with Movistar, according to Expansion.
Currently, MásMóvil is using a rented FTTH network from Orange (paying €150-200 million a year) reaching six million homes, with 400,000 subscribers – 40 per cent of total MásMóvil subscribers.
