Following its February launch in UK, movie streaming service FilmStruck has now rolled out in France, and will also launch in Italy in the coming days.
A joint venture between Turner International’s Digital Ventures & Innovation Group and Warner Bros Digital Networks, FilmStruck brings classic movies covering one century of cinema to French viewers. It aims to become the “Netflix for The Seventh Art”.
The service is managed by the team behind pay-TV channel TCM Cinéma and at launch offers 200 movies from the back catalogues of Turner and Warner Bros, as well as from the Criterion Collection. French movies represent 20 per cent of the initial offering after deals have been agreed with distributors Studiocanal, MK2 and Carlotta Films.
Launched at a €5.99 monthly fee, or €59.90 per year, FilmStruck is compatible with Amazon Fire TV, IOS and Android devices as well as Apple TV. An on the go extension is to be added shortly to give viewers the opportunity to watch movies off-line.
