San Marino’s public broadcaster San Marino RTV has launched an HD version of its general entertainment channel, available both locally on digital terrestrial and also on satellite.
San Marino RTV HD is distributed via the Eutelsat 13 degrees East satellite position, covering Europe and the Mediterranean region.
The channel is included in the line-up of digital pay-TV satellite platform Sky Italia, but will soon also be available on free-to-air DTH platform Tivùsat which has more than 3 million active smart-cards.
With the imminent arrival of San Marino RTV HD, the number of HD channels on Tivùsat will go up to 36, out of more than 100 TV channels available to viewers equipped with the Tivùsat smart-card and digital box/or Cam.
San Marino RTV is 50 per cent owned by the State of San Marino and 50 per cent by Italian public broadcaster RAI. The company currently transmits two TV channels – San Marino RTV and San Marino RTV Sport.
