November 22nd saw Eutelsat transmit a major tennis final in Ultra-HD.
The event was the Grande Sfida 4 at Palapanini in Modena, promoted by the Italian TV Supertennis channel and broadcast live in UHD via the Eutelsat satellites. For the first time, John McEnroe, Mats Wilander, Sergi Bruguera and Henri Leconte were shot live in 4K.
Eutelsat beamed the match on its 4K1 test transmission channel, and on the Fransat UHD channel broadcast from Eutelsat’s 5 deg West A satellite.
Technically the UHD video quality was captured at its highest quality level, in 50 frames/second, and with 10-bit colour depth.
The game was filmed by Rome-based technology and facilities company, DBW Communications.
