Carlos Slim’s Latino domination
August 1, 2012

Billionaire Carlos Slim’s Latino telco investments are paying off. His América Móvil services saw a massive 7.8 per cent year-on-year increase in subscriber numbers to a total of 313 million. Of that number, some 15.1 million hook into its pay-TV services.
Revenues grew 6.3 per cent over the year, helped by a growing take-up of mobile data services as well as pay-TV (up 32 per cent and 23 per cent respectively). Brazil remains a powerhouse for growth with pay-TV growing by 41 per cent to 11.4 million users.
Slim operates in Central America under the Claro brands.
