May 27, 2025

MGM+ has officially announced that the fourth season of its acclaimed crime drama Godfather of Harlem will premiere in June Set in the gritty, politically charged landscape of 1960s New York, the Emmy Award-winning series stars Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker as infamous crime boss Bumpy Johnson.
The fourth season will kick off with its premiere episode on June 1st, followed by new episodes released weekly. In addition to the new season, MGM+ will also make the complete first, second, and third seasons available on the same day—offering viewers the perfect opportunity to revisit or catch up on the full story ahead of the latest chapter.
Created by Chris Brancato and Paul Eckstein (Narcos), and starring and executive produced by Whitaker, Godfather Of Harlem is inspired by the story of infamous crime boss Bumpy Johnson (Whitaker), who in the early 1960s returned from eleven years in prison to find the neighborhood he once ruled in shambles. With the streets controlled by the Italian mob, Bumpy must take on the Genovese crime family to regain control. During the brutal battle, he forms an alliance with radical preacher Malcolm X (Nigél Thatch) – catching Malcolm’s political rise in the crosshairs of social upheaval and a mob war that threatens to tear the city apart. Godfather Of Harlem is a collision of the criminal underworld and the civil rights movement during one of the most tumultuous times in American history.
Godfather of Harlem also stars Vincent D’Onofrio as Vincent ‘Chin’ Gigante, Bumpy’s nemesis; Ilfenesh Hadera as Bumpy’s wife, Mayme Johnson; Antoinette Crowe-Legacy as Bumpy’s daughter, Elise; Giancarlo Esposito as Adam Clayton Powell; Lucy Fry as Gigante’s daughter, Stella; Kelvin Harrison, Jr. as Teddy, Stella’s clandestine love interest; and Rafi Gavron as young mobster Ernie Nunzi.
