French media conglomerate Vivendi confirmed December 7th that it now held 25.15 per cent of games developer Ubisoft (and 22.92 per cent of Voting Rights).
Vivendi, in its declaration filed December 7th with the Autorité des Marchés financiers, the French securities regulator, and published by the AMF on its website, has specified its objectives over the coming six months, saying that it will continue to acquire shares subject to market conditions but that it will not launch a public tender to acquire the balance nor does it want to “acquire control of” Ubisoft.
Vivendi already owns 100 per cent of mobile video games business Gameloft – which employs some 6000 staff – and says it is hoping to ”build a fruitful cooperation with Ubisoft”.
Vivendi is seeking to join the Ubisoft Board of Directors.
