Expectation/Plegazoid format wins BBC/NBCU development

The BBC and NBCUniversal have announced that a coproduction from Expectation and Plegazoid has emerged as the successful candidate for the new unscripted format development opportunity with an innovative twist on a studio-based gameshow.

The two broadcasters are once partnering to seek out the next global unscripted hit format, building on the phenomenon of The Traitors and the successful launch of Destination X in the US and UK.

Independent UK production companies were invited to pitch original ideas designed to captivate audiences on both sides of the Atlantic with particular interest in formats and ideas built round a shared location or production hub.

As per the published submission process, Expectation and Plegazoid will now move toward a non-TX pilot for both BBC and NBC. Expectation and Plegazoid and Universal Television Alternative Studio, a division of Universal Studio Group, will co-produce the NBC version.
