NBCU’s hayu launches in Nordics
September 14, 2017
NBCUniversal International’s SVoD service has announced its upcoming expansion into Norway – and then Finland, Sweden & Denmark. Launching first with Norway’s TV 2 in Q4 2017, this strategic territory expansion will extend hayu beyond the UK, Ireland and Australia.
These upcoming launches are a key milestone in the continued growth for the all-reality service, extending the number of hayu subscriber markets to seven countries by the end of 2017. The news comes on the heels of recent announcements about extended distribution for hayu via strategic partnerships in the UK with Amazon Channels; in Ireland with eir mobile; and, in Australia with Fetch TV. Further, the 2018 launch of hayu on NOW TV was also announced by Sky Media.
“Launching in Norway is a key milestone for hayu and the beginning of our international expansion plans,” commented Hendrik McDermott, SVP, Branded On-Demand, NBCUniversal. “We have a dual goal of growing reach and distribution via both territory expansion and increasing our presence in existing markets via innovative partnerships. This latest development sees us establishing hayu across the Nordics beginning in Norway with TV 2, our flagship partner, with whom we are delighted to introduce the service to a whole new community of reality fans.”
