SVoD bidding war for Seinfeld
March 16, 2015
Hulu, Amazon and Yahoo are all eyeing the streaming rights to the US comedy Seinfeld from Sony Pictures Television.
According to reports, the current price is more than $500,000 per episode. That comes out to at least $86 million – and is expected to be much more – for a deal that could last a decade. It’s a sizable sum considering the show ended 17 years ago.
Netflix is said to have already passed on bidding for the rights.
A deal is expected to close within the next few weeks.
