Czeck and Slovak DTH pay-TV platform is switching from Irdeto-owned (but Philips-developed) Cryptoworks to Irdeto’s more modern content-protection security.
Skylink/CS says that only about 1 per cent of its older systems are affected by the switch, and that the old Cryptoworks solution will not be supported after June 30th. Retailers are currently selling new-version smart cards for €13.90 a month.
Irdeto acquired Crypto-Tec, the conditional access division of Philips Electronics, back in 2006.
