As the company reported it had signed up 160,000 new TV subscribers to its YouView service in the three months to June 30th, quad play comms provider TalkTalk has advised its customers of a major software upgrade.
Writing in the TalkTalk blog, Laurence Miall, Director of TV at TalkTalk, says the great thing about YouView is that it’s always getting better, with new features and content being added all the time.
“This month sees TalkTalk’s set top box, made by Huawei, being given a major software upgrade that makes for a smoother viewing experience.
From Thursday, all TalkTalk TV customers will find their YouView Electronic Programme Guide organised into categories including Entertainment, HD, News, Shopping and Travel, Children’s, News and Lifestyle, making it easier to quickly find the content you want, without having to scroll through the whole EPG.
Unwanted channels can still be filtered easily, just press Guide on your remote control and then the yellow button.
YouView has also made it easier to pause and rewind live TV, with improvements to the Time Shift Buffer bar, which show more information about how much live TV you have stored on your box.
A glitch that meant YouView occasionally froze when exiting ad breaks on players from ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 has been fixed, along with a few minor issues.
We’re working on other improvements to YouView from TalkTalk and can’t wait to show them off to our customers as soon as they have been tried and tested,” she advises.
