French telco Free, an affiliate of Iliad Group, has launched its Freebox Mini 4K in France, the first tripleplay offering to be Ultra-HD compatible worldwide.

The Freebox Mini is uses Android TV, following the partnership between Iliad and Google, which had also previously integrated its system in Bouygues’ BBox Miami.

Claiming to be at least five times smaller than any other box on the market, the Freebox Mini also boasts voice recognition, embeds HEVC video compression and makes the Google Play platform accessible directly from ehe TV set. It is available for €29.99 per month, and for €1.99 additional fee for households already subscribing to the premium Freebox Revolution package.

The Freebox Mini 4K replaces the Freebox Crystal as a basic product.
