OpenTV, Nagravision hit Apple with further patent suits

The Kudelski Group has announced that its OpenTV and Nagravision subsidiaries have filed three patent infringement suits against Apple in Düsseldorf District Court. The suits allege that Apple infringes three patents owned by OpenTV and Nagravision and seek, among other relief, to enjoin Apple from further infringement. The suits identify Apple’s infringing products and services as including iOS mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, and iPod), Apple TV, App Store, and OS X-based personal computers.
The move follows a similar suit filed against Apple in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California last month.
The Group also announced that it was strengthening its Intellectual Property and Innovation leadership team with two senior executive hires. David Fligor and Clay Gaetje have been appointed as Vice Presidents of Licensing reporting to Joe Chernesky, Senior Vice President, Intellectual Property and Innovation. Fligor was most recently Vice President, Corporate Development and Strategy at TiVo, while Gaetje was most recently Vice President, Licensing at Rovi.
