Poland’s DSO date slips

Poland is likely to miss key dates in its plan for switching off its analogue TV transmissions.
The original date was November this year, and there’s a statutory obligation in place that analogue must end by July 2013. Poland’s government says there are signs that adequate digital coverage of the country might not now be possible.
The country’s major cities will still start switching off this coming November, but broadcasters are sceptical that digital will see a breakthrough, “because Poles are not sufficiently interested” say reports. Broadcasters are calling for more government cash to be spent on education and publicity for the switch-over.
