March 7, 2012
Conax, a global provider of solutions for protecting multi-device digital content, has revealed that Nigeria-based pay-TV operator My TV is further extending its 6-year relationship with security partner Conax and has committed to deploying a Conax Chipset Pairing solution for its satellite platform. Implementation of Conax chipset pairing keys is intended to protect My TV’s revenues stream from content piracy and eliminating use of unapproved receiver models.
With increased security for pay TV content a necessity in sub-Sahara Africa, My TV is taking advantage of its upcoming Receiver Upgrade/Replacement campaign ahead of the planned migration to MPEG-4 compression, then DVB-S2 modulation of its current MPEG-2, DVB-S broadcasts, to introduce chipset pairing as a standard feature in both High Definition and Standard Definition Upgrade Receiver models being offered as replacements for My TV subscribers’ existing receivers.
