Could someone buy AST SpaceMobile?
April 27, 2026
The thought that AST SpaceMobile could be bought is not exactly new. AST has a market capitalisation value of some $22.3 billion (€18.9bn). A ‘market cap’ doesn’t reflect the true value of a business. A report from equity analysts at Deutsche Bank talks of a potential acquisition.
The bank specifically mentions Google (which already holds a 3 per cent stake in AST) and Meta, which reportedly paid a visit to AST’s Midland, Texas facilities a few weeks ago.
The bank said: “”We believe there is strategic optionality in AST since a larger company looking to accelerate its own D2D plans could acquire ASTS and benefit from AST’s aforementioned competitive advantages.”
Other names rumoured to be of interest include American Tower (market capitalisation of $83 billion) while Amazon is taking a ‘partnership’ approach and this – by implication – could include Apple.
