BBC launches free android app
May 27, 2011
The BBC has launched a new app for the Android OS. The free app will provide users fast access to BBC’s top news stories, with full pictures, videos and other utilities such as the ability to share a particular news item on social networks.
This app will deliver the same contents as the BBC’s iPhone and iPad app, which debuted last July. The iOS app was downloaded nearly 3 million times in the UK, with another 3 million+ international downloads.
Although the BBC app does not currently run on Android tablets, BBC Future Media manager Andrew Sullivan said that the corporation is working with manufacturers to make the BBC available on all mobile devices as soon as possible.
