BT to join Britbox?
June 10, 2019
BT is reportedly in talks to invest alongside the BBC and ITV in new streaming service Britbox.
According to The Sunday Telegraph, BT has held preliminary discussions with ITV about a multi-million pound investment into the service. However, the report also suggests a disagreement over the valuation of the service could see the talks fail.
Britbox is expected to launch in the second half of 2019, with ITV announcing in May that it was “on track” to have the Netflix rival up and running by the end of the year.
BT, BBC and ITV are already partners in the YouView platform.
