Netherlands: Netflix, Videoland lead SVoD market
January 10, 2019
SVoD services Netflix and Videoland are continuing to attract new customers in the Netherlands, according to Telecompaper’s Video behaviour of Dutch Consumer report for Q3 2018.
Since launching in September 2013, Netflix has grown every quarter, although that growth curve is now starting to plateau. Dutch Videoland is still in a strong growth phase and after a sluggish start, has now increased for eight quarters in a row.
Amazon Prime Video, which launched in the country 2016, is not yet considered a major player. The same applies to niche services such as Cinetree, Eurosport Player, Lebara Play, Lyca TV and MUBI.
