Audible, a provider of spoken word entertainment, has today announced The Tutor, abn unsettling and emotionally charged drama from writer and actor Rosie Day (Outlander, Living the Dream) that is a compelling psychological thriller exploring power, consent, trauma and revenge, narrated by BAFTA winner, Mia McKenna-Bruce (How to Have Sex) and Alex Hassell (Rivals).
In The Tutor, Eloise Hart returns to the secondary school where she studied under the mercurial brilliance of her former teacher Jack Collins. But Eloise isn’t here to teach the young minds of tomorrow, she’s here to burn this man from the inside out.
When she discovers sixteen-year-old musical prodigy Olivia in her class, the echoes of the past begin to feel dangerously close. As old secrets burn with new flames, Eloise must master the very feelings that have shaped her to stop history repeating itself again. And so, begins a thrilling game of cat and mouse between the master and the apprentice, where each has the power to destroy the other. But what happens when you no longer recognise your instincts? Who do you turn to when you can no longer trust yourself?
Audible Original audiobook The Tutor is a twisting thriller exploring the abuse of power, consent and the biddable nature of the human heart.
Day said: “I was inspired to write The Tutor by how often women’s trauma is dismissed, minimised, or misunderstood. Eloise’s story came from a desire to give voice to buried anger and the need for accountability. Rather than focusing solely on healing, I was interested in the darker, less socially acceptable response – revenge. What does it mean for a woman to return to the source of her trauma not for closure, but to take control of the narrative that once silenced her? Ultimately, the novel is about reclaiming power in a world that often denies women the clarity or even the permission to name what happened to them. It asks whether revenge can ever bring resolution, or if the real battle is learning to trust yourself again when that trust has been broken.”
Best known for playing Mary Hawkins in the Golden Globe-nominated Outlander, Day has been an acclaimed actress since her debut role in the BBC drama Hope and Glory and starred in several popular TV series including Living The Dream, Misfits, Call the Midwife, Good Omens, The Sandman, Grantchester and Black Books amongst many others.
