Marathon Studio, Terence Films to Adapt Passe-Muraille
April 16, 2026
Media and entertainment powerhouse, Banijay Entertainment, have announced the adaptation of Marcel Aymé’s short story, Passe-Muraille (The Man Who Walked Through Walls, Editions Gallimard, 1943), by Banijay France’s Marathon Studio and Terence Films for France TV. The drama, already in-production, will be distributed internationally by Banijay Rights.
Written by Mathieu Missoffe and Julien Gallet, and directed by Kasia Adamik (Absentia, Kabul), the six-part drama follows Sam Mansouri, a 28-year-old wasting away in a dehumanising telemarketing job. When he discovers he has the ability to walk through walls, he believes his luck has finally turned. But, before he even gets a chance to use it, he witnesses the murder of his older brother. Forced to set aside his dreams, Sam has no choice but to use his ability to uncover the truth behind his brother’s death, and perhaps, uncover the truth about himself.
Malika Abdellaoui, Founder and Producer, Marathon Studio, said: “In Passe-Muraille, Mathieu Missoffe has created a modern and original reinterpretation of Marcel Ayme’s short story. Our ambition is to anchor this fantastic fable in the present day, while exploring the invisible walls that shape our lives, whether social, professional, or psychological. France Télévisions is the ideal co-production partner to bring this premium series to a wide audience, and to support Kasia Adamik’s vision as it navigates questions of identity, purpose, and control in today’s world.”
Kasia Adamik, Director, added: “I look forward to starting production on Passe-Muraille, inspired by what is arguably the first superhero in French literature. What drew me to the project is its ability to blend thriller, action, and fantasy into a contemporary story.”
Founded in 2021 by Malika Abdellaoui, Marathon Studio focuses on creating original scripted content with both local and global appeal. Terence Films, led by Bertrand Cohen and Stéphane Meunier, has built a reputation as a producer of high-quality drama with over 500 hours of premium programming. Known for hit thriller Rivière-Perdue, the French adaptation of La Caza. Monteperdido for TF1, and cop series OPJ for France Télévisions. Recent co-productions include Il Était Deux Fois for France TV and The Baker and the Beauty, a Keshet International format, for TF1.
