Fox has given a two-season order to Stewie, an animated spinoff series set in the universe of Seth MacFarlane and 20th Television Animation’s Family Guy.

The series is set to premiere on Fox during the 2027-2028 television season and comes from the producers behind Family Guy. MacFarlane is credited as a co-creator and executive producer on the series, but it will be showrun by veteran Family Guy writer Kirker Butler.

The show will see genius toddler Stewie Griffin (voiced by MacFarlane) enrole in a new preschool attended by a bunch of kids he doesn’t know, and a 75-year-old class turtle with a half-cocked theory on just about every subject. To curb his misery caused by his new surroundings, Stewie begins rolling out his trusty array of devices to take him and the turtle on an array of adventures through space and time, turning every boring day at school into a surreal adventure.

“I am honoured and humbled that Seth, 20th Television Animation and Fox have trusted me with one of the most iconic animated characters in the history of television,” commented Butler. “I have known Seth for more than two decades, worked with him on half a dozen projects, and I am hopeful this is the one where he finally learns my name.”

“I’d like to thank Fox for this incredible opportunity, and I’m excited to start pretending I’m collaborating closely with them on the show,” MacFarlane added.

This is the second Family Guy spinoff following The Cleveland Show which ran for four seasons between 2009 and 2013. Family Guy debuted in 1999. Season 24 of the series aired in 2025 whilst three more seasons are in the pipeline.
