Cartoon Network’s Climate Champions surpasses 3.2m challenges accepted
June 17, 2025

Cartoon Network’s Climate Champions award winning sustainability-focused initiative has reached over 3.2 million challenges accepted by kids across the globe.
Launched in response to a 2021 global study revealing climate change as a top concern amongst kids, Climate Champions encourages young people to take small, meaningful actions to help the planet. The campaign features fun, achievable challenges like: “Make it Rain!”, encouraging showers over baths to conserve water; “Red Light Scavenger Hunt”, helping kids identify and discuss standby devices and “Bag Up Your Bags”, inspiring kids to craft reusable plastic bag holders.
This June, Cartoon Network is teaming up once again with UK-based not-for-profit organisation Wastebuster for a second year to commemorate their annual Water Week education initiative, part of the UN’s Water Action Decade. Water Week aims to bring science, sustainability, and storytelling together with the entertainment industry to arm children and young people with the knowledge to become water stewards. Cartoon Network will run a multiplatform campaign on-air across EMEA throughout June, water-themed challenges on the Climate Champions app and microsite and water themed YouTube Shorts.
Wastebuster will also integrate Climate Champions into educational materials, including lesson plans, assemblies, and homework packs. New this year: interclass competitions, encouraging schools to compete in completing the most water-saving challenges. Learn more here.
In addition, Cartoon Network has launched a dedicated Climate Champions channel on Kinzoo Messenger, a safe social app for kids and families. Featuring some of Cartoon Network’s most beloved series, such as Teen Titans Go! and The Amazing World of Gumball, this channel on Kinzoo Messenger offers quizzes, fun facts and interactive challenges that inspire eco- friendly choices. From saving energy to reducing waste, each activity encourages families to think globally and act locally, with encouragement from familiar Cartoon Network faces.
Additionally, Cartoon Network Climate Champions has been encouraging all children across the UK to get creative and help save the planet this spring. A nationwide competition launched in March with the aim of encouraging children to think of the most innovative and imaginative ways to help tackle climate change, with the winning entry from 10-year-old Khalid transformed into an extraordinary giant sculpture made of recycled materials. The sculpture, created by renowned Liverpool-based artist Faith Bebbington was unveiled on a custom climate bench located in the grounds of Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool’s Springfield Park on May 27th.
