More Hollywood stars line up for Bluey Book Reads Season 2

April 15, 2025

BBC Studios Global Digital Brands together with BBC Studios Kids & Family and Ludo Studio have announced that Bluey Book Reads is back for a second season.

The next instalment of the digital-exclusive series is available now on the Official Bluey YouTube and Bluey.tv and will see even more Bluey storybooks brought to life by a variety of celebrity Bluey fans.

Season 2 kicks off with the beloved Muppets of Sesame Street Elmo & Cookie Monster and marks the first time that furry friends have featured in a read for the Lovie and Kidscreen award-winning digital series. Elmo and Cookie Monster appear in Bluey Book Reads’ first-ever real life read, appearing on screen to read the lift-the-flap board book, What Games Should We Play?.

“A Sesame Street-Bluey collaboration is the perfect way to provide entertaining and engaging content to fans of both popular series,” said Jenny Gioia, VP of Content and Programming at Sesame Workshop. “We are excited to have Elmo and Cookie Monster encourage playful learning and a love of reading with Bluey Book Reads.”

The full stellar lineup of off-screen readers also includes: the BAFTA award-winning British actress Helena Bonham Carter (The Crown) aptly reading Queens; celebrated Welsh actor and BAFTA and Emmy award-nominee Michael Sheen (Good Omens) narrating Road Trip; and Australian actress and the voice of Bluey’s aunt Brandy, Rose Byrne, (Bridesmaids) reading a heartfelt rendition of Baby Race.

“I wish I’d had Bluey around in my child rearing days […] a dear (younger) friend of mine says ‘In a 7-minute episode I get a backdoor parenting lesson and the three-year-old gets a giggle’. It’s a heartwarming reminder to keep on playing. And that all that really matters is love – giving it and receiving it. And frankly that is all we need to know. Since telling people I’ve read a Bluey book for audio I’ve never been as cool amongst the under-fives. I’m helping the future,” said Bonham Carter

Additionally, Hollywood actor Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings trilogy) lends his voice to The Pool. The Tony award-winning British actress Sophie Okonedo (The Secret Life of Bees) brings her soothing tones to Sleepytime. Australian gold medallist Paralympian, Kurt Fearnley, offers a take on Camping. Australian musician and songwriter Meg Washington – also the voice of Calypso in Bluey – reads Bob Bilby, plus American actress and the voice on Moana, Auli’i Cravalho, enchants listeners with Shadowlands.

Bluey Book Reads Season 2 is bringing even more Bluey storybooks to international audiences too via BBC Studios’ localised Official Bluey YouTube channels in Germany, France and Korea. Diane Kruger (Troy) launches the first-ever Bluey Book Reads in German with Camping and The Creek, while Camille Cottin (House of Gucci) returns for her second Bluey Book Read in French with Camping. Han Ga-In (Mistress) also lends her voice to the first-ever Korean Bluey Book Read for ‘Baby Race’.

“Tucking in for the night in our house never happens without a good Bluey book. I’m thrilled I got the opportunity to read these two stories. I definitely got mum points for this one,” commented Kruger

The first season of Bluey Book Reads landed in February 2024, launching with a dual-read of Mini Bluey by famous sisters and Australian pop royalty Kylie and Dannii Minogue. Since then Bluey Book Reads has garnered over 75 million views and counting across Bluey’s digital channels .

New episodes of Bluey Book Reads will go live every fortnight from today (April 15th).

Bluey Book Reads is commissioned by BBC Studios Digital Brands with BBC Studios Kids & Family, and are a Ludo Studio and BBC Studios Digital Brands production.
