Intelsat expands VideoNow EPG with audience measurement
April 8, 2025
Intelsat, the integrated satellite and terrestrial network, has introduced audience measurement capabilities to its VideoNow electronic programme guide (EPG), a significant step toward ad-monetisation in the DTH FTA satellite video market.
VideoNow, available on Intelsat’s Galaxy 19 platform, has long provided viewers with a way to find and access FTANow, with its expansion into the Google TV app store through a partnership with Sofia Digital, VideoNow enhances the viewer experience by seamlessly integrating with connected TVs’ satellite tuners, making content discovery even more intuitive.
The app is currently available in North America, with plans for expansion to other connected TV platforms.
Beyond improved navigation, the latest update introduces real-time audience analytics, offering programmers valuable insights into viewer behaviour, including:
- Real-time visits and unique page views
- Channels selected for viewing
- Browsing patterns by genre
- General viewer location data
These metrics provide content providers with the necessary data to implement targeted ad-insertion strategies, creating new revenue opportunities for providers of DTH FTA services.
Galaxy 19 delivers more than 100 channels across various genres, including news, entertainment, multicultural, and religious programming. Recent additions to the platform include traditional FAST channels such as The World Poker Tour, Euronews, WeDo Amor and Wild TV.
