Eutelsat invests in Seraphim fund

Eutelsat is participating in the latest Seraphim Space 2nd VC fund. The satellite operator has not said how much it has placed into the fund other than it is at a “partnership” level.
“Through this partnership, Eutelsat Group and Seraphim will support the development of advanced capabilities to meet the growing market demand for global connectivity, Earth observation, and advanced data services. The investment underscores Eutelsat Group’s dedication to remaining at the forefront of innovation and supporting emerging technologies that will transform the space industry,” said a company statement.
SSV II, will have a particular focus on the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to space data, in-orbit computing and space-enabled communications. The statement added: “Eutelsat Group and Seraphim Space are eager to begin this promising collaboration, paving the way for new advances in the space domain and beyond.”
Eva Berneke, Eutelsat’s CEO, in a LinkedIn message, reminded staff and the industry that it is just 8 months since the OneWeb acquisition closed.
“Of course, Day 1 was not the beginning of our story. Eutelsat and OneWeb had been working together for some time. But last Autumn represented the start of a unified business with a unique value proposition to our customers, a unified team our deep expertise, focused on a shared mission: to be the most trusted partner in satellite connectivity,” she said.
