Twitch bans gambling games
September 22, 2022
Streaming platform Twitch has announced a partial gambling ban, targeting virtual slot machines, roulette and dice games. It will take effect from October 18th.
The Amazon-owned platform will prohibit videos of gambling sites not licensed in the US or “other jurisdictions that provide sufficient consumer protection”. The ban includes cryptocurrency gambling sites such as Stake, based on the Caribbean island of Curacao.
Twitch said in a statement: “While we prohibit sharing links or referral codes to all sites that include slots, roulette or dice games, we’ve seen some people circumvent those rules and expose our community to potential harm.”
The platform will not ban sports betting, fantasy sports or poker.
