From David Del Valle in Madrid
Spanish media group Secuoya and publishing house Planeta have joined forces to turn Madrid Content City, the audiovisual facilities that host Netflix, into one of the biggest European production hubs.
Over the next two years they will invest €120 million to expand the hub, located on the outskirts of Madrid with a current operating area of 22,000 square meters to 140,000 square metres becoming the second biggest film/TV production hub in Europe after the UK’s Pinewood Studios.
By 2021, Madrid Content City will have five new soundstages -one of 2,000 square-metres; four of 1,500 square-metres- alongside the current five, as well as production services, a university campus, and catering and sports areas.
