Atresmedia, owner of Antena 3 TV and La Sexta, has revamped and relaunched its streaming service Atresplayer Premium aiming to turn it into a “real TV on demand” offering.
The service, with a price of €2.99 a month, will offer ad-free original in-house TV series including El Nudo and Veneno as well as International fiction series like Cuatro bodas y un funeral (Four Weddings and a Funeral). It will also offer premieres of flagship programmes such as La Voz (The Voice) and other entertainment and current affairs content before their terrestrial broadcast, as well as movies.
“Netflix and HBO rely on TV series and we intend to go beyond and transform our TV into a TV on demand”, said Carlos Fernández, Director of content at Atresmedia.“All programmes will be available before the FTA transmission. This is something that none operator is doing.”
The platform, which already has 75,000 subscribers, initially launched in 2018 but was never well promoted. Following the launch of Mitele Plus by rival Mediaset, Atresmedia has decided to give it a boost.
