Spain: Movistar Plus subs up 9%

Telefónica’s pay-TV platform Movistar Plus has increased its subscribers base by 9 per cent in the last year to 3.9 million.
Its convergent packages have been key to boosting subscriptions; the Movistar Fusión package is the most popular with 4.5 million subscribers, up 2 per cent year-on-year after the addition of 34,000 subscribers in the first quarter. Fusión now represents 88 per cent of TV accesses – 86 per cent in bandwidth and 81 per cent in mobile telephony.
ARPU in Fusión reached €87.80, up 8 per cent year-on-year and 6 per cent more than the previous quarter. Churn rate stands at 1.5 per cent.
Additionally, Movistar Plus has already FTTH passed 20 million households, claiming to be the largest FTTH network in Europe. Revenues amounted to €3 billion in the first quarter of the year.
