Spain: DTT demands a UHD promo channel
February 27, 2018
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Spanish DTT operators have urged the Administration to allocate a UHD TV channel to promote 4K broadcasts in view of the second digital migration set to be completed in 2020.
The Association Televisión Abierta that groups together the DTT operators has also asked the Spanish government to guarantee the current DTT capacity with 8 DTT multiplexes and its position on the 700 MHz band at least until 2030.
They are also demanding a compensation plan for operators and users that covers the cost of the digital migration and the adjustment of aerials, as well as a clear timetable for the switch.
