Netherlands: TV revenues increase in Q3

Q3 Dutch TV revenues have seen an increase, driven by summer price hikes from key pay-TV players Ziggo and KPN. Revenues grew by 5.8 per cent to €485 million, according to Telecompaper’s Dutch Television Market 2016-Q3 report.
Ziggo’s TV revenues grew by just over 8 per cent in the quarter to around €285 million, whie KPN’s revenues grew by nearly 4 per cent. Despite the revenue growth, KPN’s marketshare dropped by 0.4 percentage points to less than 25 per cent, while Ziggo’s market share grew to over 59 per cent.
The number of TV connections decreased by 0.2 per cent during Q3 to reach 7.8 million. Digital TV is used by 90.3 per cent of all connections with the quarterly growth driven by IPTV via fibre and DSL.
