Turkey: TRT to deliver content in Dolby Digital Plus
December 2, 2015
Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), is the first national broadcaster in Turkey to broadcast its HbbTV VoD services in Dolby Digital Plus. The first content to be streamed will be the historical documentary East to West: The River Flowing Westward from LionTV UK and TRT.
TRT’s HbbTV VoD services, also known as TRT ARTI, are available on its HD channels broadcast via Turksat, which covers Turkey and European countries including Germany, France, UK, Italy and Austria. These can be viewed on all HbbTV enabled DVB-S2 receivers.
Technical partners Sofia Digital and Yol Digital created the technical infrastructure, as well as providing the DASH+ Dolby Digital Plus transcoding platform, to enable the delivery of the service.
Dolby Digital Plus is part of the HbbTV European industry standard for hybrid TV. It delivers authentic, high-quality audio via broadcast channels or IP content on an HbbTV service.
