BBC WW, Monterosa launch Dancing With Stars app
September 8, 2015
BBC Worldwide has announced a new partnership with the multiscreen specialist Monterosa to produce the official companion app for their global franchise Dancing with the Stars.
The app has been developed by Monterosa who specialises in creating interactive mobile content and will be offered to BBC Worldwide’s broadcast partners internationally as a companion to the Dancing with the Stars format which has sold to over 50 countries. The app provides a new way for Dancing with the Stars fans to participate with the local broadcast of the series by rating the dance performances, playing games and accumulating loyalty points for the chance to qualify for exclusive prizes and tickets to the show.
This is the first official companion app for the Dancing with the Stars franchise offering broadcasters a ready-made product to accompany the format. Responding to a growing trend for dual-screen viewing and increased time spent on mobile devices the app offers broadcasters an opportunity to enhance the value of their advertising opportunity by including mobile advertising.
“Companion apps can play a pivotal role in connecting popular entertainment brands with their global fan base, deepening engagement both during broadcast and between shows.” Said Tom McDonnell, co-founder of Monterosa, “Increasingly fans expect to be able to interact with their favourite shows and the Dancing with the Stars app provides a simple and enjoyable way for fans to get more deeply involved.”
