More public funds for RTVE

Spain’s public broadcaster RTVE – operator of La 1 and La 2, among other channels – will get €331.5 million in state subsidies in 2016 against this year’s €292.7 million. It means an increase of €50 million in subsidies frozen over the last three years by the government.
Similarly, RTVE will get an additional €50 million from telco operators as the radioelectric tax they pay to finance the pubcaster has increased up to €380 million, in comparison with this year’s €330 million.
RTVE had been demanding a rise in state subsidies to tackle its annual losses of around €100 million.
