Turner channels back on Dish Network

Last week a last-minute deal was brokered between CBS and DBS operator Dish Network allowing subscribers to continue watching CBS for a few more days. Now, a similar “short-term extension” means that Dish Network viewers can again watch eight returning Turner Broadcasting channels, including CNN and Cartoon Network. The TBS channels went dark a month ago on October 21st.
The extension also means that two other extremely popular Turner channels, TBS and TNT, will stay on air beyond their December 5th end-of-contract date.
Dish Network’s founder and chairman Charlie Ergen has been vocal in his criticism of some Turner channels, saying earlier this month that the loss of the channels over the past month was a “non event” as far as viewers were concerned, and that ratings for CNN were half what they were some years ago.
