August 4, 2014
By Chris Forrester
Fiji Broadcasting celebrated its Diamond (60th) anniversary on August 2nd and used the occasion to announce the launching of a nation-wide digital TV platform.
Fiji’s prime minister Vorege Bainimarama said the new platform would improve the quality of TV signals, and boost the number of channels available to all viewers.
The Dept. Of Communications would oversee the establishment of the digital platform, which would then be handed over to the public broadcaster FBC to manage.
A new transmission company would be formed where broadcasters could lease one or more digital frequencies for fixed annual fees which would be the same for all.
