Envivio, Globosat deliver 4K World Cup to S. America
June 27, 2014
Showing the promise of 4K TV to early adopters of next generation TV technology, Envivio has announced that Globosat, a leading content provider to cable, satellite and IPTV operators in South America, has added Envivio as one of Globosat’s partners to broadcast live the quarter, semi-final and final 2014 World Cup games in Ultra-HD.
“4K TV delivers four times the resolution of traditional HD video. Global sporting events like the 2014 World Cup finals are the ideal stage to showcase the promise of 4K TV to consumers,” said Globosat’s CTO Roberto Primo. “We are excited to partner with Envivio to power the transmission of this mega event.”
The World Cup coup follows Envivio’s successful live 4K broadcast of the 2014 French Open tennis tournament in May.
“First tennis, then soccer, whatever the sport, Envivio’s leading technology and experience in powering world-watching live action events makes us the number one choice for content owners and service providers alike,” said Envivio’s CTO Jean- Pierre Henot. “We’re happy to support Globosat with this special Ultra HD broadcast of the final World Cup games,” he added.
