Spain: TV ad spends fall softens

The fall in TV ad revenues in Spanish TV was 6.8 per cent to €412.3 million in the second quarter of the year, according to the Telecommunications Market Commission (CMT).
Public TVs registered the sharpest fall, down 20.3 per cent, to €30.6 million with state subsidies also going down 8.3 per cent to €441.4 million. Concerning private TV channels the TV ad spend was fell by 5.5 per cent on average to €381.67 million.
Pay-TV revenues increased by 1.5 per cent though to €425.8 million mainly thanks to satellite pay-TV with revenues growing 18.9 per cent to €291.95 million. Cable TV companies saw a decline of 19.7 per cent in their revenues, €55.30 million.
Overall, the Audiovisual Sector generated €1,384.6 million in revenues, down 5.2 per cent.
