New Oz sat-launch for Arianespace

Australian satellite operator NewSat has contracted with Arianespace to launch its first craft, dubbed Jabiru-1. The satellite, currently under construction by Lockheed Martin, is scheduled for launch late in 2014.
Jabiru-1 is destined to operate over Asia, the Middle East and East Africa. Based on Lockheed Martin’s A2100 platform, will have 50 Ka-band transponders.
Adrian Ballintine, founder and CEO at NewSat and Jean-Yves Le Gall, CEO at Arianespace, signed the contract at the Washington Satellite 2012 show.
